The Amazing Linux (Part 2)

Saturday, July 5, 2008

Linux is an operating system, it serve the same function as windows (common Pc) and mac osX (apple pc), but unlike windows and osX linux is open source. Open source means coding and script of the operating system is freely available for anyone thus leading to hundreds of linux variants or famously known as distros. One can choose among the those hundreds distros which suit their taste best. This is why linux is exciting, you can came up with a lot of possibilities.

Most people afraid of using linux as i metioned in the previous post, but technically there is nothing to be afraid of. From technical insight linux in my personal humble opinion is way better compared to windows. Linux boot faster, simpler, and the most important thing is linux does not contains many addwares and unnecessary software. Now back to the amazing part, have you ever imagine booting (loading) an operating system from usb tumbdrive or even memory card? Impossible right?. With linux booting from usb tumbdrive and memory card is possible.

Another shocking fact is that the whole operating system can be as small as 60-70 Mb compared to 1-3 Gb for winXP and 5-10 Gb for vista? Some linux distros fly in a computer with RAM memory lower than 100 Mb but for vista you need atleast 2Gb if you want your computer do tasks swiftly. these are among many other reason for giving the title amazing to linux operating system. How do i know all these facts? As i told you before i've been using linux for 2 months and i must say i am impressed. The version that i currently use is 70 Mb and i boot it from my usb tumbdrive. With this 70 Mb i got word processor, excel, web browser, media player and many more and the coolest thing is i put all of these in my tumbdrive..can you believe that?

never doubt that linux is THE better system, but why ppl still stick to windows?

complacency wins everytime, en akbar.

lotsa ppl, (by this, i meant the non-programmer ppl) still sticks to XP, just because vista seems troublesome. well, if you put aside the technical glitch now n then.

last but not least, HOORAY on the first post by en akbar!! hehehe

well thankyou cik ditmercury :)
i'm very happy and honored to have the first comment from the pepel girl..

yerp i guest cik ditmercury is correct, complancency does wins everytime. people tend to stay away from troublesome stuff..however linux does come in handy when it goes to small task. what i mean is if i just want to use internet and word processor, it is much more comfortable for me to use a small operating system which not loaded with alot of unnecessary software. The compact characteristic of linux saves alot of workload in the pc processor. less workload means less heat and prolonged lifetime of the processor or simply say prolonged life time of the pc. from my personal point of view this is magnificent.

it is all about possibilities, most people does not even bother to try even if it is good and free. its a bit disappointing though..

last but not least please visit this blog regularly :), we are honored to have you as our visitor..cheers..
